Noorhan Maamoon's Digital Footprint

By Jordan Schuchmann

What I Found:

Finding Noorhan online was a very easy task—there’s no one else out there with that name, at least according to Facebook and Google. As soon as you type in her name and click search, every result that comes up on the first few pages is the real Noorhan Maamoon.

I learned a lot about Noorhan. She is very active in the community, currently holding jobs as the Internal Events Co-Chair at USC Lambda Pi Eta, the news editor for the Daily Trojan, a local news desk intern at Khaleej Times, and she was formerly the international affairs coordinator for the USC Muslim Student Union. The most interesting thing I discovered was that Noorhan attended the American University in Dubai from 2013 to 2015, where she received a bachelor’s degree in journalism. There, she also made the Dean’s List all three years, and in 2015 won a student ambassador award.

After investigating Noorhan’s online digital footprint, one thing was made very clear: she is a very impressive person. The first page of Google includes a mix links to her social media pages and journalism work she has done. She has written several articles for the Daily Trojan, Annenberg Innovation Lab, AnnenbergMedia.com and Medium.com. In addition to that, she has done work for “Red Lips High Heels” and NPR’s “Next Generation Radio.” Majority of her articles are related to Islam or the Muslim culture, but she also covers several other areas. Other items that can be found on Google include a project she made on Prezi, tons of articles she has written, her USC bio, her social media accounts, and an interview Kate Dowd conducted with Noorhan posted on Sound Cloud.

Noorhan is also very active on social media. Her Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and LinkedIn accounts are very accessible through Google search. Twitter is her most active account, where she has nearly 10,000 tweets. Her Facebook is very professional, containing nearly every job she’s had and links to a lot of her work. Her LinkedIn account is very typical for a student.

However, her Instagram account was tricky to find. By searching her name on Google and Instagram her account cannot be found. For a second I thought she didn’t have one. It wasn’t until I was scouring through her Tweets that I found it, as she linked her Twitter and Instagram accounts together. Her Instagram name isn’t Noorhan Maamoon, but instead it’s @Nooriielbeh. Although it is difficult to find, she has nothing to hide, as her account was very clean.

Overall, Noorhan has a very positive digital footprint. Anyone searching for dirt on Noorhan would have trouble finding it, as there are no negative portrayals of her online. Her social media accounts are clean, there aren’t any bad pictures, and her work is impressive.
